Planning Committee Decision - Application for 180 houses on land at Crossings Road
The Parish Council wishes to thank all members of the community who contributed their time, knowledge and energy in preparing objections to the planning application for 180 houses at Crossings Road.
Over the weekend, the Chair hosted a well‑attended brainstorming session to coordinate the community’s final response. This included residents who intended to speak at the Planning Committee meeting in Buxton, as well as Councillor Ruth George, who kindly provided guidance on the planning process. Given the strict limit of three minutes for objectors to speak in total, the Chair was asked to present the community’s concerns on behalf of all those opposed to the application.
Despite the considerable efforts of residents, the Parish Council, and all who engaged in the process, the Planning Committee voted unanimously to approve the application. We recognise that this outcome is deeply disappointing for many in the parish, particularly given the scale of the proposed development and the strength of local feeling.
The Parish Council will continue to monitor the next stages of the planning process closely. We remain committed to ensuring that any conditions attached to the permission are robustly enforced and that the interests of the community are represented as the development progresses.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who took part, submitted comments, attended meetings, or supported the effort in any way. Your involvement demonstrates the strength and commitment of our community, and it will continue to guide our work on this and future matters.
