Chapel-en-le-Frith Parish Council held its latest Community Award Presentation Ceremony on 2^nd December 2022. The event took place in the Town Hall where refreshments were served by local the Tea and Chat group before the awards were distributed by the Chair of the Parish Council, Mr Mike Chantler.

Ten awards were made to people and organisations who have served the local community in a variety of ways. Each received a trophy as a visible reminder of the thanks due to them for their efforts together with warm applause from those gathered there.  Those honoured this year were:

Combs Community Group – for improving and generating community spirit and organising village community events.

Peter Helps – for volunteer work with Chapel Morris Men, New Mills and District Railway Modellers,

Friends of Chapel Station, Chapel Methodist Church and the Mustard Seed Coffee Shop

Caroline Bannon – for establishing Chapel Youth Movement and organising events and activities for young people.

 Di Farrow – for volunteer work at Chapel Methodist Church and the Mustard Seed Coffee Shop.

 Rebecca Feroleto – for setting up Chapel Runners during lockdown, a group which now has 190 active members.

 Frances Cohen - volunteer work generating community spirit over many years, including work at St Thomas Becket Church and Tea & Chat.

 Mary Williamson – for volunteer work running Dove Holes Over 60’s Club.

 Gary Dobbin – a volunteer for Friends of Chapel Station and leader on many major projects.

 Paddy Bann – volunteer and founder of Chapel Good Neighbour Food Network.

 The Council would like to thank all the above for their hard work and contribution to life in the Parish. There will be a similar event in 2023 and residents are encouraged to nominate people and organisations that they think are worthy of recognition.
