Chapel-en-le-Frith is a Market Town with a history stretching back almost 800 years. It has a fascinating 'Old Town' at its heart and offers visitors lots of things to see and do both within the town and in the stunning surrounding countryside.
Eccles Pike is a 1.5 mile walk from the town centre and provides a 360 degree view from its summit of all the major peaks and ridges of the High Peak. A unique sculptured topography, which is set into the distinctive pink stone on the summit, names all the landmarks visible in the spectacular panorama.
Combs Lake was constructed in 1794 to service the Peak Forest Canal and is now a local beauty spot with a sailing club.
Tramway Trail follows the route of the eighteenth century horse drawn tramway that linked Chapel-en-le-Frith to Buxworth Basin. Interpretations boards along the way tell the story of this historic route.
Castleton is home to the 11th century Peveril Castle, completed in 1086 for William Peverel. To the west lies Mam Tor known locally as the shivering mountain topped by a iron age fort.
Castleton is famed for its caves, once lead mines, open to the public on foot or by boat. Blue John is mined and sold in the gift shops in Castleton.

Buxton is England's leading spa town and home to the Buxton Opera House, Devonshire Dome, historic Crescent and the source of Buxton mineral water.
Historic Halls include Chatsworth House the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. The House and gardens are open to the public together with a children's adventure playground, farm yard, shops and cafes.
Haddon Hall a fortified Medieval Manor House and Gardens open to the public with shop and café.
Lyme Park owned by the National Trust with large Deer Park, Hall, children's playground, shops and café.
Walking in Chapel-en-le-Frith located in a valley at the heart of some of the finest upland scenery in England. The high grit stone hills that surround the town are criss-crossed by walking routes, which pass many historical sites and provide spectacular views.
